Description: |
Let W be the Weyl group of a finite or affine root system. It is well-known that the length of an element of W equals the number of its inversions. In this talk, I will introduce the notion of "atomic length" of an element of W and present some of its properties and applications in representation theory. This is joint work with Nathan Chapelier.
